Want to play squash against players from Montreal?

Hi - we have among us a member who has connections with women squash players from Montreal.  If there’s enough interest from our league members, she’d be willing to organize an inter-city exchange.  This would involve setting up a date when our players could go to Montreal to play, and then another date when the Montreal players would come here to play.  These exchanges would likely take place over a weekend… likely just one day of play so that participants would have the option of staying over or returning home the same day.   We’d try to have no costs associated with playing (eg. no guest fees).  However, we’d each be responsible for our own transportation (car-pooling is an option), food (there are some great, inexpensive restaurants in Montreal), and shopping costs (I know there are avid shoppers among us).   To express your interest please use the comment button below and let us know if you’re :

  • DEFINITELY IN;
  • SOMEWHAT INTERESTED;
  • NOT AT ALL INTERESTED.

Deadline for expressing your interest is October 4th.  Don’t delay!           Cheers, Susan

League Info for Thursday, Sept 27th

Hi everyone -League this week will be at the RA Centre.  Order of play is 2-1-3.  We have two courts starting at 6:40 pm and another two courts starting at 7 pm.  Officially, play starts at 7 pm.  However, the RA gives us two 6:40 pm time slots.  Players wishing to start earlier than 7 pm can do so.  To do so they must contact their opponent to make sure that both players are available to play at the earlier time.  Use of the 6:40 pm time slots will be on a first come first served basis, which means that whoever shows up and is on court first gets to play.  Our two other courts start at the official time of 7 pm.  All others, except teams 9 and 10 (teams in green on the schedule) start play at 7 pm.  Teams 9 & 10 play the late shift which means that they should be ready to go onto court at 8 pm.    Please print off the new schedule as it has updated information on playing locations and spares.  See you all thursday.   Thank you.    Susan

First Night - What a Start!

Well… it was quite the start of league last night!  Thirty plus women arrived at the RA, some early, some a little later.  Everyone was eager to play and I think we found courts and players for each person.  Some games went quickly, while others went to 5 games before a winner could be declared.  After play, close to 25 people gathered in the Fieldhouse Restaurant at the RA to celebrate Viola’s 50th birthday and also meet and greet (we have many new players).    I extend a BIG THANK YOU  to everyone for their patience  in getting play started on time (although that was a little confusing!) and to all of the veteran players who were there to help the new recruits get their bearings.  We’re still trying to confirm future play locations for the upcoming weeks.  I’ll post another note early next week with the details you’ll need for September 27th league night.  Ciao for now… Susan

Playing Times & Courts - September 20, 2007

We have 4 courts reserved at the RA Centre for league tomorrow night, September 20th.  Courts 1 & 2 start at 6:20pm and Courts 5 & 6 start at 6:40pm.  If anyone can play early, please do.  Most of us will start at 7pm.  However, the two teams highlighted in green on the schedule should be ready to start play no later than 8pm.  Of course, our schedule for Sept 20th doesn’t have any team highlighted in green… just wanted to make sure you were paying attention!! Teams 2 & 7 will start play at approximately 8 pm.   Come earlier to watch the play, cheer on the other league members, and, just in case a court frees-up before 8pm. Thanks everyone,  Susan
