Canberra….Paulette’s most excellent visit with Jane
December 4, 2007 by Steph.
As I sit here at a little neighbourhood cafe not far from Jane’s mansion (she’s away in Brisbane on business…yes she even manages to travel all over the place here too, she got up at 4 pm) having my lunch, I can’t help but feel lucky..I’m in shorts, sleeveless shirt, sandles, got my hand and sunglasses on, the only annoying thing I have encountered so far are the flies!!they buzz around your eyes, nostrals and mouth like there’s no tomorrow! I can’t even imagine what you guys are feeling at this moment with the return of the cold weather. Gosh I even have to look at my watch to figure out what day it is.
I like Canberra, it’s the Nation’s Capital so there’s lots to see and I selected a few places again feeling lucky to have my very own experienced guide! Saw most of the sights that you find in all the brochures and then some. Last night (Dec.2) Jane and I had a dinner worthy of you guys..the best food I’ve had so far. We even had a beautiful rainbow outside our window to help celebrate this super meal. The wine…what can I say about the wine here, so far I’ve stucked with the house wine and it’s been great. Of course you guys know I’ve never met a wine I didn’t like!
One of the most beautiful views were from “Red Hill Lookout” at sunset, after our dinner, the view of Canberra was breathtaking from there.
Earlier I spoke of Jane’s mansion….she has a lovely pad…three bedrooms upstairs complete with sitting room overlooking the living room, and two bathrooms, I don’t think she ever goes up there.
Downstairs is her huge bedroom, two more bathrooms, a laundry room, living and dining room areas, kitchen, and a patio outside the living room. She also has two car garages! Now I can understand why she was queazy about sleeping on a mattress on the floor at Laura’s in Townsville with a roomful of ants! I almost feel bad…but it’s pretty funny. She was a good sport about it.
I spared for Jane last night at the squash club…man was it hot. The ball never died….I lost but I had a respectable game and I loved the workout. Anyway it was an interesting night for me, they are not as fun as we are when we go for our social outings…I would not replace you for anything!!
I’m in Melbourne at the moment, I met up with the girls and “curly” right on Q, no mishaps. We are heading our along the “Great Ocean Road” for the next few days. My next report will be from Sydney.
Love you all, and that’s what happened in Canberra!
Paulette
